FAQ’s & How to Get Started

FAQs

Do you take insurance?

We accept Aetna, Blue Cross/Blue Shield NC, and United Health/Optum insurances. We will verify that we are in-network with your plan during the initial consultation.

For individuals with other insurance plans, we are out-of-network providers (OON). If you can access out-of-network benefits, we can provide you with a receipt (superbill) which you can then submit for reimbursement. Once your deductible has been paid, your out-of-network benefits cover part of our fee. Depending on your plan, you may also be able to use benefits through a flexible medical spending account to cover psychotherapy expenses. We encourage you to contact your insurance provider prior to starting therapy to determine if they will reimburse you for an out-of-network provider.

For those who would like support with getting OON reimbursement, I recommend working with Reimbursify; you will send the superbill and your insurance information to them and they negotiate with your insurance company for reimbursement.

Is telehealth confidential?

We use a HIPAA-compliant portal (through Simple Practice) that allows for confidential and secure video-conferencing and messaging. If you would like to contact us, the best way to reach us is by either calling us at (919) 241-7972 or using the secure message feature in your “Client Portal.” We do not encourage the use of email or other messaging systems (e.g., Facebook) as we cannot verify that they are secure and confidential.

How do I contact you if it is after hours or an emergency?

If you or your loved one is having a mental health emergency and it is after business hours, please call 9-1-1 or head to your nearest Emergency Room. You can also call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255. Trained clinicians are available through this hotline 24-hours a day, 365 days a year. During business hours, you can call us at (919) 241-7972.
